Lucy and Jack celebrated their marriage in an outdoor ceremony at
Hayne, Devon
on Saturday 7th September, 2019.
“When he looked into her eyes, he learned the most important part of the language that all the world spoke – the language that everyone on earth was capable of understanding in their heart.
It was love.”
Is there anything at all more romantic than the gorgeous, dusky hues of the end of summer sunlight glistening on full, blushing roses; warmed to perfection by the delicious golden glow that comes with the transition into autumn…?
No.
Which is exactly why it is the PERFECT time of year to celebrate a glorious country garden wedding!
Lucy and Jack knew exactly what they were doing… clever pair.
“Something older than humanity, more ancient than the desert…”
Their bohemian inspired end-of-summer wedding was simply gorgeous.
Hayne’s rustic countryside cottage canvas transformed itself into a carefully considered tale of colour coordination; blending together nature’s end-of-season palette with a perfect array of ornate carpets, each laid out over dew-soaked grasses, and over-sized dream catchers swaying lazily in the breeze that rustled through the trees.
It was romance at its best!
“What the boy felt at that moment was that he was in the presence of the only woman in his life, and that, with no need for words, she recognised the same thing.”
Lucy and Jack were a complete and utter joy to work with.
An honest tale of ‘boy meets girl, girl falls in love, boy does too… and they all live happily ever after.’
From the moment they met, they knew they were destined to be together. Their story was simply delightful to share with everyone who had travelled down to Devon just to join them.
“Because when you know the language, it’s easy to understand that someone in the world awaits you, whether it’s in the middle of the desert or some great city. And when two such people encounter each other, the past and the future become unimportant.”
We shared readings from The Alchemist and an adaptation of Hind’s Feet on High Places, before symbolising their union in a hand fasting ritual, followed by Lucy and Jack’s own personally written wedding vows, and a traditional exchanging of wedding rings too.
“There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only.
It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning.”
I was absolutely honoured to not only officiate Lucy and Jack’s ceremony, but to also remain with them throughout the remainder of the day as their wedding host and MC.
We had an absolute blast, from start to finish… I really do work with the most wonderful couples and can’t thank them enough for including me in their day!
